Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not a random text. It has its roots in classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it more than 2,000 years old. Richard McClintock, professor of Latin at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, researched the word 'consectetur', one of the most obscure Latin words in a Lorem Ipsum passage, and discovered its unmistakable origin by examining its quotations in classical literature. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of Cicero's "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil), written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on ethical theory, which was very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
